How much data should you take?

It depends on what you use your phone for abroad. For maps, messaging and a bit of social media, a small plan is usually enough. If you are going to tether your laptop, upload video or work online, go for a generous plan or one of the plans with no volume limit. Is my phone compatible?

You need an eSIM-capable phone that is unlocked from your carrier. Checking is immediate: dial *#06# and look for an EID code in the list. If it appears, your device supports eSIM. IPhones from the XR onwards and most recent mid- and high-range Samsung, Motorola, Google Pixel and Xiaomi phones support it, but *#06# is the definitive test for your specific model.

How do I activate it?

You receive the QR code by email in about a minute after purchase. You scan it from your phone settings and that is it. The days start counting when you connect at your destination, not when you buy, so you can install it from Mexico and forget about it. You have 180 days to install it.

Remember it is a data-only plan: no traditional calls or SMS, but WhatsApp and video calls work normally because they run over the internet.

And if I do not use it?

If you end up not travelling and never installed or activated it, we refund the full amount within 100 days. The same applies if there is a technical problem we cannot solve. We provide support in Spanish by email and WhatsApp.

On the iPhone you go to Settings, Cellular, Add eSIM and scan the QR we send you. You can have your main SIM and the eSIM at the same time (Dual SIM): you keep your number for calls and WhatsApp and use the eSIM only for travel data. It works on the iPhone XS, XR and all later models.
On most Android phones you go to Settings, Connections or Network, SIM, Add eSIM and scan the QR. The menu changes a bit depending on the manufacturer (Samsung, Google Pixel, Xiaomi), but the process is the same. If you cannot find the option, look for it as download SIM or mobile plan.
