The island of Saint Martin is split in two: the French side (Saint-Martin, with its capital in Marigot) and the Dutch side (Sint Maarten, with its capital in Philipsburg). With a Saint Martin eSIM you have mobile data the moment you land, without looking for shops or swapping your physical SIM. The eSIM connects to the local networks operating on the island, such as Orange Caraïbe and Dauphin Telecom on the French side, or Flow and TelCell (Chippie) on the Dutch side, so you browse with good coverage across the whole island.
Although the French side is part of France, Saint Martin is not part of the European Union roaming zone. That means using your home plan by switching on roaming in Saint Martin can cost you between 10 and 15 € a day, with surcharges per call and per megabyte. A data eSIM avoids that surprise bill: you pay a fixed plan before travelling and control your spending from the very first minute.
Plans start from 3.95 € and you choose according to your days and usage. For a short beach trip with light browsing, 1 or 2 GB is usually enough; if you are going to share photos, use maps daily and make video calls, count on around 1 GB for every two or three days. This Saint Martin eSIM price is far lower than traditional roaming and you know in advance what you are going to pay.
Buying a SIM card in Saint Martin forces you to find a point of sale, show ID and wait for activation, and often they sell you the French-side and the Dutch-side cards separately. The eSIM is fully digital: it installs via QR code, does not take up your phone's physical slot and you can keep your home number active for WhatsApp and SMS while you use the local plan's data.
Yes. Coverage spans the main hubs on both sides: Marigot and Grand Case on the French side, and Philipsburg, Simpson Bay and the Princess Juliana airport area on the Dutch side. The eSIM relies on the antennas of real island carriers, so you will have internet in Saint Martin both on the beaches of Orient Bay and in the Front Street shopping area, or crossing from one side to the other without changing SIM.
After the purchase you receive a QR code and the instructions by email. You scan it from your phone's settings, ideally before leaving home on Wi-Fi, and the plan is ready to activate on arrival. If it is your first time, follow our eSIM guide step by step. And if you want to compare coverage or plan more stages of the trip, take a look at all destinations available.
